Thierry Henry becomes one of the many soccer stars to make the move to the US clubs.
Hopefully this will help to bring the US interest in soccer up another step and help them build up their local talents for the next World Cup.
The US team this round gave some of the best matches in this years World Cup in South Africa. With some of the team playing in some of the best clubs in the BPL and Europe like Landon Donovan, Tim Howard, Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey, they seem to absorbed the playing styles and skills that made the team perform so well against the traditional stronger sides.
Portugal turns on the heat in the second half June 21, 2010

Portugal turns on the heat in their second half of the match with Korea DPR when they came out blazing and nailing the Korean DPR team 7:0 ! They must have had their hot sauce during the break as they came back out full of fire grabbing 2 goals in a space of 5 minutes and from then on it was a torrent of goals.
Portugal faced a stiff defence from the Korean DPR team in the first half and although had several opportunities, could only get 1 goal in the first half. Portugal has shown that they are more then Cristiano Ronaldo and have a great pool of talents in their team and most importantly, they showed how a football performs as a team…please take note England and France.
Numerous times Ronaldo was in a position to take a shot at goal passed the ball instead to a team member who was in a better position instead of trying his luck and blasting the ball. This is truly the action of a true star and team player rather then an attention grabber. This is truly his value as the most expensive player. And yes he did finally get his first international goal in 2 years as he grabbed the last goal of the match. The amazed look on his face as well as the relief was priceless.
With this amazing form and performance, the match up with Brazil is definitely going to be a superb match to watch.
Portugal seems to be in the right gear to take the world cup home this round

An inspired never give USA team came back from a 0:2 score line during half time to equalize 2:2 against Slovenia in a much more thrilling match up then England vs Algeria.
The highlights of this crucial match can be caught on FIFA.com here
A superb goal from a crazy angle from Landon Donovan brought them back into the game with an equalizer from Michael Bradley bringing them square on with the Slovenians and possibly putting them in contention for the next round.
Tim Howard made some remarkable saves to keep the US team’s hope alive.
Compared to the uninspired England team’s performance against Algeria. I’m so glad I went to bed instead of waking up to watch the match. England seems to have a lot of names but not much team to really be truly this year’s World Cup winners.
Back to reminising on 1966….
Robert Green cannot be blamed for this match.

A very lack lustre French team went out to a more cohessive Mexican side, in a game which the former World Cup winners never showed the sparkle that made them world champions before. And what is Thierry Henry doing on the bench ! Maybe rumours of disquiet within the team has some merit as they never seemed to play as a team, with wild individual shots at goal and some appalling free kicks.
Au revoir France…
Now that the Mexican side needs a draw with Uruguay will we see a lack lustre match with both teams going for the draw which will take both to the last 16 ? We shall see…
