Well it seems like only yesterday that Germany managed to grab the World Cup 2014 from Argentina.
How the week has flown.
Joachim Loew is a real German hero now with a historical victory of a European side winning the World Cup in a South American setting. After such a long wait the German team lifted the World Cup again.
With minutes ticking by it was a tense final as Argentina looked like they would grab the World Cup with Gonzalo Higuaín and Javier Mascherano showing that Argentina was more then Lionel Messi and almost securing the World Cup again.
Alas it was not to be as Mario Gotze snatched an opportunity and slotted in the winning goal.
Germany got a well deserved win as they had been consistent through out the tournament.
Manuel Neuer won the golden glove as expected as he had performed some great saves throughout the tournament.

Brazil gets knocked out of the World Cup but still gets the fourth spot, but that is of little consolation to the millions of Brazil fans that had hoped the team would bring back the World Cup on home soil.
Many have been disappointed with the Brazilian team’s performance in this World Cup but maybe the expectation was just too great.
It’s a matter of the cup being half full or half empty. As one Brazilian spectator said, we are still fourth in the world so that’s not bad.
Some people have criticized Neymar for supporting Messi and Mascherano in the final with Germany, but hey…they are friends and team mates in FC Barcelona so what is wrong to support your friends ?
Just because Brazil has that national rivalry with Argentina it does not mean a person has to sacrifice his friendships. Kudos for him to stand by his friends instead of following the crowd and making it a political rivalry.
Now Netherlands grabs 3rd place and again denied the World Cup, as history almost repeats it’s self from 2010. They actually reached the finals that time but were denied by Spain.
So close yet so far. The 3 goals by Van Persie, Blind and Wijnaldum secured them the consolidation prize, but Netherlands will have to wait another four years to have another chance to prove the Oranje are the top team in the world.

England my England
Oh how you fare
For Football is a team game
Tis not one person to solely blame
Yes poor Robert Green
Did let it slip through his hands
That wild shot from Patrick Dempsey
From the New World
Called the US of A
Yes old Steve Gerrard did score the first shot
Into goal
And gave England the lead
But 10 good men
With HUGE reputations
Of skill and history
Did have lots of time to put right
The wrong that Green made
Where were the goals ?
Did they exert the dominance that Germany showed
Against Australia
In a similar David vs Goliath arena ?
Step up step up
Football is a team game
All are to blame
If you did not win the game
So fast you forgot
All the good saves
That he has made
When Green saved your butts
Now you wish to put the blame
Solely on one man
Tis tis
Shame on you
Get your heads out of ’66
And into the 2010 game
The Lions of BPL
We still have not heard you roar…
Brazil vs Peoples Republic of Korea June 16, 2010

Australia can learn a lot about not being intimidated by a higher ranking opponent and giving all you got from the Peoples Republic of Korea as they held off the Brazilian team ranked No 1 in the FIFA rankings. Being the 105th ranking team, they were expected to be steamed rolled by the “superior” Brazilian side. But the PRK team came out with guns blazing and have put up a good fight frustrating the Brazilian team at every corner. Until half time the score has been 0:0. Maicon managed to score the first goal just after half time but the PRK team are not lying down to give up yet and are still attacking the Brazilian goal.
Brazil has shown some of their usual flair but I feel they are looking for that great impressive out of the box goal rather then passing the ball to get into a position to score the goal. Unlike the German side which exhibited more cohessive playing with precision passing and more mechanized game, it will be interesting to see what happens if these two meet up. Brazil has not shown the dominance of the No 1 ranking team.
